If you want your kid to get a
college scholarship for a sport, don’t get them into tennis. Like every
college sport, the coaches are under pressure to win. So, who has a
better chance to win, some 18 year old American kid who did well in the
juniors, or a 22 year old European or South American who tried the
Satellite Tour at the age of 17, couldn’t make it, but now has the
experience and physical stamina to beat all of those hotshot American
juniors? So who do you think the coaches give most of the scholarships
to? Check out the player list of any college near you that gives
scholarships. Why is it that our colleges are handing out OUR money to
give foreign players a great education as a reward for trying the pro
circuit and failing, while most top American juniors have to play at
smaller colleges or pay their own way?
